Foggy reflections

Apparently we've moved to Idaho during one of the "coldest winters on record".  Good grief.  For this sun-lovin', flip-flop wearin' girl that is a lot to swallow.  It snowed at Christmas and the snow is STILL on the ground.  We are praying for it to go away...soon.

With the cold comes cloudy days and fog...lots of fog.  Each day we watch it roll in from the mountains and cover everything in a blanket of white.  During one pea soup morning last week, a bird perched on our back fence and Emma wondered aloud how the bird knew which way to fly when he couldn't see what was in front of him.  Smart girl...she's always thinking.  We talked about relying on the other senses when one is limited and how that would look.

You see where I'm going with this?  We've been covered in our own figurative blanket of fog for the last several months...the fog of uncertainty, moving, letting go, finding a new normal.  Many days I feel like that bird - I can't see what's in front of me today, let alone next week or next month.  So how do we know which way to fly when we can't see what's coming?  We rely on our other "senses"; what we know to be true and His promises that never fail.  Regardless of whether we can see what's ahead, we step out in faith and move forward, trusting that God is in the fog and has a purpose in it all.

If I could see more of the big picture of this whole move, would I not rely as much on my faith?  On the One who is working in the fog?  Probably not.  So today I will be thankful for the fog and let it be a reminder to trust that the One who created it is also creating my days.

  2. Don't you just LOVE how God speaks to our hearts through the very ordinary things which happen each day??!!
And now, every time you see a fog, may you be reminded of God's faithfulness and perfect plans!
